Thank you for helping to make 2007 such a successful year! We are proud to say Community Energy currently serves more than 115,000 residential customers nationwide. A few highlights throughout the country:
Pennsylvania
The Clean Energy Communities Campaign in the Philadelphia area continues to generate strong interest. This program, administered by the non-profit SmartPower clean energy marketing program, encourages municipalities and entire communities to choose clean energy. Currently, 23 townships have committed to purchase 20% clean energy by 2010. Ten of these 23 municipalities have already qualified for a 1 kW solar photovoltaic system for reaching their participation goals. Congratulations to Abington, Cheltenham, East Bradford, Jenkintown, Lower Makefield, Nether Providence, Swarthmore, Treddyfrin, Upper Dublin and West Vincent, who will install their new system on schools, town halls, libraries, and other public buildings!
Connecticut
The CTCleanEnergyOptions program has enrolled over 10,000 Community Energy customers! Also, more than 50 towns in Connecticut have committed to purchase 20% renewable energy by 2010 though the CT CleanEnergy Communities Campaign, also in association with SmartPower. Twenty-four of these towns have earned their “Clean Energy Communities” designation, and have qualified for a free 1 kW solar photovoltaic system.
New York
We also helped to green the Big Apple in 2007. ConEdison Solutions, which serves New York City and the surrounding area, added over 4,500 residential customers for a program total of nearly 11,000 participants. NYSEG & RGE’s Catch the Wind program in upstate New York also experienced double digit growth.
Naperville, Illinois
The City of Naperville Renewable Energy program has successfully enrolled over 7% of its 50,000 total residents, making it one of the most successful residential programs in the country.
Thanks again to all the customers who have already signed up for renewable energy. We look forward to working together to spread the word in your community that renewable energy is here, it’s real and it’s working.
