Just six miles south of the town of Ainsworth, Nebraska, a community of local landowners committed approximately 11,000 acres to the generation of clean, wind energy. Occupying less than 1% of this land, thirty-six tall, white turbines now spread across the rolling Sandhills. Adding diversity to the local energy mix, this 60 MW wind farm produces enough energy to supply an average of 19,000 homes per year.
