Project History
Developed by Community Energy, the Bear Creek Wind Power Project is a 24 MW wind energy facility located in the Pocono Mountain region of Pennsylvania less than 10 miles southeast of Wilkes-Barre in the town of Bear Creek. The Project is a 24 megawatt facility. Community Energy acquired the project from early stage developer Global Winds Harvest.

Clean Energy Customers
Commitments by PPL Energy Plus to purchase the output of the project and leading wind energy customers such as the University of Pennsylvania and PEPCO Energy Services who agreed to large, long-term purchases from Community Energy, helped make the project possible. Additionally, the project received funding from the five regional Pennsylvania sustainable energy funds and the newly authorized Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority.
